If you’re torn between the Stokke Steps and the Tripp Trapp, I’ve tried both. They are quite different depending on what you want.
The Tripp Trapp is the classic wooden chair that grows with your kid. It pulls right up to the table, which I love. It looks nice and just feels super solid. But you need to buy all the add-ons like the baby set, belt and cushions separately. Also, adjusting the seat height is a bit more work than on the Steps.
The Steps feels more like a traditional high chair. It’s easier to use from the start, especially if you’re doing baby-led weaning. It comes with a tray and the footrest is easier to adjust. Plus, the newborn bouncer clicks onto it which is pretty cool. But it doesn’t grow with your child the same way. You’ll probably stop using it after a few years. It is also harder to clean that the Tripp Trapp.
If you want one chair that lasts forever, go for the Tripp Trapp. If you want something super easy from the baby phase up to toddlerhood, the Steps is more practical. Personally I would buy the Tripp Trapp if we end up having a third child.
